Today our 4-H Club went to Camp Boggy Creek and planted flowers and cleaned up SueLila Hollow. It’s a memorial garden that you can go and spend time and just remember your loved ones.
I’m so proud of these kids! They all worked really hard and the new revised garden will be a great place for campers and their families to go and visit on camper weekends.
Camp Boggy Creek is specifically designed for children with chronic or life threatening illnesses and allows them to safely enjoy the activities of a “traditional” camp. Between early morning swims and evening campfires, children whose lives have been a series of medical procedures and hospital stays are transformed into just “kids.” They have a chance to be with others coping with the same illness or condition and realize that they are not alone.
Camp Boggy Creek is a permanent, year-round facility where children ages 7 through 16 with chronic or life-threatening illnesses and their families can come to Camp at no charge to them. Camp Boggy Creek provides a safe and exciting camp experience for children from throughout Florida suffering from:
- Arthritis / Rheumatic
- Asthma (severe)
- Diabetes (family retreat weekend only)
- Hemophilia / Bleeding disorders
- Immune Deficiency
- Inflammatory Bowel Disease
- Sickle Cell
- Spina Bifida
- Ventilator Assisted Care (family retreat weekend only)
Programs at Camp Boggy Creek include week long summer sessions as well as family retreat weekends and each includes full medical coverage with on-site professionals in the illness specialty being served.
The Camp Boggy Creek experience is more than a fun-filled getaway. It helps children and their families to better cope with the day-to-day challenges they face in dealing with serious illness.
If you know someone with a child that would like to go and experience a wonderful weekend too, contact them at www.boggycreek.org.
Be a blessing to someone today! ❤
